2006 AMD CONFERENCE

Assisted with the organization of the conference, acted as session moderator, and prepared and gave a presentation on aquatic macroinvertebrates. Contributed to post-conference critiques and planning for the 2007 conference.

GENERAL OUTREACH ACTIVITIES AND MEETING/EVENT ATTENDANCE:

  • Bloomsburg Fair; Bloomsburg (Public outreach for one day with EPCAMR. WPCAMR display presented)

CONSERVATION DISTRICT OUTREACH

The Watershed Coordinator began Conservation District outreach during the months of September and October by meeting with Northern Region District Watershed Specialists and Managers to understand current projects and assess the assistance needs of each District within the WPCAMR region.

The following County Conservation Districts were visited during September and October:
Cameron, Clinton, Centre, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, and Venango.
Additionally, the Watershed Coordinator also began working with Elk County Watershed Specialist on ideas for educational materials development and will attend upcoming Northwest Regional Watershed Conference planning meeting in November.

AML CAMPAIGN

Attended River Lobby Day in D.C. and met with Senator Santorum and Staff of Senator Specter and Representatives Murtha, Murphy, English, and Holden to push for passing of Senate Bill 2616. Made follow-up calls and sent e-mails to Senators and Congressmen after those meetings. Contributed to AML strategizing meetings with other members of AML campaign. Along with Regional Coordinator, attended meeting with House member Peterson to urge passing of AML bill during Lame Duck session of Congress and drafted press release on that meeting for release after elections.
